Traces, a three parts mix series
October 8, 2014
Someone asked me recently to record a mix with the concept of my choice. The only limitation was the length: it had to be 30 minutes long. As only a couple of weeks is separating us from the release of the first POLAAR EP, and that I’m nearing 15 years of career, I wanted to delve into my past and present inspiration sources and make a mix out of them.
The life of a music lover is made of encounters with songs, albums and artists. There is an emotional connection to each of these encounters. As a result, we have specific memories about records: be it a place, an atmosphere, or a particular feeling. Retrospectively, I realize that I try to transcribe these moments in my own productions. My tunes are bridges between the present time and all the classics that are so important to me.
Surely, 30 minutes were not enough to illustrate this. From this research was born a 3 hours mix, spanning genres and navigating between 90 and 170 BPM.
I talked to this project with people at BF2D, SeekSickSound and Trax Magazine and they immediately gave me their full support. As a result, the 3 hours mix was cut in three parts. Each week, for the next three weeks until the EP release date, a new part will be released on the website of one of our partner. The Traces series starts monday the 13th at BF2D.
I hope you will enjoy this mix as much as I enjoyed working on it. I think it is a good explanation of my aesthetic and a good start to understand the “Ritual – Part 1” EP. By the way: the release is due for the 4th of november.
As usual, I’ll be more than glad to read your feedbacks!
